Ira has more than 40 years of experience in public relations, marketing, advertising, and design. His agency, First Experience Communications, has worked with clients in the health care industry for more than two decades. He has counseled and provided professional services to health care organizations (hospitals, cancer centers, community health centers, and state agencies) on integrated marketing strategies, online marketing, and branding, and he has advised home care agencies on Internet strategies that help them find new clients and recruit staff.

Working with companies ranging in size and maturity from start-ups to Fortune 100 public companies, Rick advises businesses on commercial transactions, with special emphasis on intellectual property and technology issues. He has advised software publishers, developers, integrators, distributors, computer and equipment manufacturers, service providers, biotechnology and life sciences companies, medical research organizations, joint ventures, authors, and inventors in the acquisition, protection, and exploitation of intellectual property and the negotiation of licenses and other transactions, including commercialization of university-developed technology and patents. He represents both licensors and licensees and others seeking rights to use and/or own third-party intellectual property rights. Rick is presently a director, secretary, and past chair of the MIT Enterprise Forum of Connecticut, and is a director and secretary of the Connecticut Technology Council.

Andy Greenawalt, Founder and CEO, Continuity Control, Inc.
Andy founded Continuity Control, Inc. after 10 years with of Perimeter eSecurity, which he founded. Perimeter eSecurity pioneered the security as a service industry and has been one of the fastest growing companies in the country. While at Perimeter, Andy also served on the board of directors. Andy is currently the President of Gnostic Ventures, a company that advises on security investments and invests in SaaS companies. He studied philosophy and linguistics at UMass Amherst and is an Entrepreneur Partner at CTech. Andy also chairs the Connecticut Technology Council’s Technology-based Economic Development (TBED) Committee.
Ned Gannon, Co-Founder and CEO, eBrevia, Inc.
As CEO of eBrevia, Ned Gannon drives the strategic direction of the company and is responsible for overall management. While practicing corporate law, Ned represented private equity funds, strategic investors, venture capital funds, and startup companies in a broad range of mergers, acquisitions, financings, and general commercial matters. Previously, Ned was the founder and CEO of Audible Auto, a startup that developed infotainment technology at the intersection of smartphones and vehicles. It was selected as a semi-finalist in the 2011 Global Vehicle Innovation Competition and as a Best-in-Class finalist at the 2010 AutoVenture Forum. Ned holds a law degree from Harvard Law School, a Master in Public Administration from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, and a B.S. from Boston College.
Douglas Roth, Director of Investments, Connecticut Innovations, Inc. (CI)
At CI, Doug is responsible for sourcing new investment opportunities, evaluating and negotiating investments, and serving on the boards of portfolio companies. Before joining CI, he gained extensive experience with early-stage businesses as both an advisor and operator. He founded a consulting firm to help early-stage companies identify and assess growth opportunities and manage intellectual property. Previously, as a senior consultant at a boutique management consulting firm, he provided strategic intellectual property advisory services to companies in the telecommunications, information technology, and medical device industries. He now serves as a director of eBrevia, Inc. and a board advisor for Continuity Controls, Inc.
